OCEC Members-at-Large Communication February 2007 Update from the Board of Directors - OCEC membership is presently at 533 members.

- OCEC is proud to welcome Josette Heslop (Rideau Chapter 523) and Peter Kislinsky (Hamilton-Wentworth Chapter 289) to the Board of Directors as our new members-at-large.
- A Call for Papers has gone out for the OCEC Conference to be held in Niagara Falls during November 2007. Please complete the application form and return it to OCEC by March 31, 2007.
- Chapter/subdivisions needing whiteboards that display information about O.C.E.C. are asked to contact Brenda McGuinness at

- The OCEC newsletter will be sent out by the end of the March Break. This edition has a wonderful article from an Ontario student that will touch your heart.
- The OCEC Board of Directors will now run the Provincial Conferences independently. A special thank you is extended to all our friends of OCEC that have volunteered to help organize the conferences with our Board of Directors.
Conference Dates - International Conference will be held in Louisville, Kentucky from April 18 – 21, 2007.
- Canadian CEC Conference will be held in Winnipeg Manitoba from October 4 – 5, 2007.
- Ontario CEC Conference will be held in Niagara Falls @ the Fallsview Sheraton from November 8 – 10, 2007.
Government Initiatives and OCEC Position Papers - The OCEC position paper on Professional Standards and Competencies for Teachers will be available on the website in the spring of 2007. Please take some time to read through it.
- M.A.C.S.E. (Ministry’s Advisory Committee on Special Education) wants your input regarding a new Special Education Funding Model for Ontario. This input will assist them in making timely recommendations to the Government. Send input to Kim Taylor Horeck at
